Geography

What makes Geography so appealing is that it’s such a diverse and varied subject, and the Cambridge course really makes the best of this. In first year, you study both Human and Physical Geography which is a fantastic way to get an overview of the whole discipline. I knew before I arrived that I was probably going to be a Human Geographer, but I really enjoyed studying the Physical side too, and it helped me find new connections between different topics.

By far the best thing about Ë®¹ûÅÉAV is the people. I’ve gotten to know so many fantastic people in the short time I’ve been here, and I’m yet to meet someone in College I haven’t gotten along with. Ë®¹ûÅÉAV admits four or five Geographers each year, which makes for a fairly small and close group. It’s great to be going through the degree with a group of firm friends, and even though the workload is hard we manage to find plenty of time to enjoy ourselves.

Moving to the city from a small village in Yorkshire, I wanted to be in the heart of Cambridge, but not overwhelmed by crowds of tourists. Ë®¹ûÅÉAV has the perfect location - the College is just a five-minute walk from the shops and market square, but is away from the busiest parts of the city centre. The College grounds are beautiful too; because Ë®¹ûÅÉAV’ playing fields are within College, there’s loads of green spaces to enjoy. There’s even a college nature trail!
